Bill Brunner was a significant part of my years at SHS. I edited the Blue and White my senior year and he taught me more than journalism with his quiet wit and charm. I wish I had been in his history class, but am so happy to have known him. I last saw him about three years ago and he was the same as he had always been--a gentleman and a scholar. He will be missed, but never forgotten through the thousands of student lives he touched and changed forever. Class of '61

Mr. Brunner was my favorite teacher. I took every history class he taught at Savannah High. His love of history and his personality made every day I sat in his class a joy. He retired the year I graduated and I was so blessed to have been one of his students. I was glad he and I both left Savannah High the same year because without him I would have not wanted to go back to school. I have thought of him many times over the years and I know I will never forget him. He was the greatest teacher I ever knew.

Mr. Brunner always commanded respect and expected excellence. He was the embodiment of the term 'a scholar and a gentleman'. He never lost his special sense of humor or that voice and accent. He will be greatly missed.

Mr. Bruner was a great teacher - one of my favorites at SHS! He made history classes so interesting. His sense of humor was a real plus! In the years following my 1972 graduation, I would often run into him at the Habersham Shopping Center. He always took the time to 'catch up' with his former students. My sympathy for your loss.
- Patty McLendon Hahn, Savannah, GA
Mr. Brunner was always a very kind person. When I first started teacher at Savannah High School he would always make sure I knew how to do the daily routines correctly. He had a sense of humor that always made me laugh. He was a great person and will be missed.

Mr. Brunner was my teacher and head of the BLUE and WHITE when I was at SHS. I spent a lot of time in his office typing when I probably should have been in other classes. I remember how great it was when we could get him talking about his time in the Navy and about all the countries that he assigned to us. I used to see him at stores and he let me know what was happening in Savannah as I lived in FLorida. He was a great teacher and he inspired me to be one.

Mr. Brunner was a great teacher with a sence of humor that made you want to hear more. He was also my homeroom teacher for my 3 years at SHS. I graduated in 1959, that year our year book was dedicated to Mr. Brunner. I have a handsome 8x10 of him in the front of the book. He was my favorite and I loved him for his kindness to me. my sympathy to his close friends. he will be missed. Bette Coney Akins-Rovolis

I loved having Mr. Brunner as a history teacher at Savannah High School in the 1970s. I remember how he showed his classes Jackie Kennedy's film tour of the White House and how he was tickled by her breathless narration. He definitely knew how to reach his students with humor and respect. I also enjoyed seeing him around town and catching up since those SHS days. I will miss him. Love, Polly Powers Stramm
